Bites about the Vampire Bar

A couple of weeks ago I tweeted about my curiosity about the vampire bar at Queen and McCaul.

Turns out, the pop-up store that includes IV bags of blood in a cafe setup is a promo for the movie Daybreakers. Unfortunately, I hadn’t heard of the movie until this week when Avatar was sold out in the theatre and it became my second option, so I was a little slow on the uptake.

Now passing by the space I see its brilliance. The “capture humans” sign on the outside, the “reduced 5% blood quotient per cup” note on the inside and the telltale bags of blood themselves were dopplegangers of scenes from the movie. Curious that the space wasn’t what provoked me to see the movie in the first place, though.

A suggestion: why not make this place interactive? Why not, rather than having an exhibit-like setup, encourage people to actually go into the store and learn a bit more about the movie?

It’s great this raises exhibit questions, but as a consumer it didn’t drive me to answer them in its current state.

FYI - The movie was wildly entertaining - if you’re into the campy, bloodbath vibe.
