G20-Inspired Art

Conflict breeds craft.

So said George Stroumboulopoulos, essentially, in a speech I remember him doing from back in my journalism days. Somebody asked the music aficionado what would happen if a then-relevant major political decision was made, and he drew from musical experience.

Somebody’s going to write a brilliant record, I remember him saying.

In times of major social or political disrupt, artists uprise. A classic example, he gave, was U2’s song “Sunday Bloody Sunday” from the album War. That kind of song and album could not have been born out of peace.

And so, as we all have the G20 top of mind here in Toronto, I’m wondering what kind of art is brewing underground. Even on the ground, here’s what I’ve seen so far.

If anyone has any pictures of G20-inspired art, I’d love to see it!
